    3. A How the West Was One construction briefing will be given at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Ferndale DDA Office, 149 W. Nine Mile Road. The briefing is open to the public.
    4. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year celebration, begins at sundown Wednesday, Sept. 4, and lasts through the evening of Friday, Sept. 6.
    5. The Ferndale Street Eats food truck rally comes to The Rust Belt Market from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The Shimmy Shack, whose chef is Kirsten Johnson of Ferndale, will serve up vegan fare; a variety of other trucks also will be on hand.
