Craig Covey Joins Ferndale Mayoral Race

The former city leader will join Sherry Wells and incumbent Dave Coulter on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Former Ferndale Mayor Craig Covey has announced that he will seek re-election to the office in November.

Covey, who was elected mayor in 2007 and 2009 and served on the City Council from 1999 until 2008, will join Sherry Wells and incumbent Dave Coulter on the Nov. 5 ballot, Ferndale City Clerk J. Cherilynn Brown said last week.

Following his stint as mayor, Covey served on the Oakland County Commission and currently works as special assistant to Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash.

"I’m not running against anybody, but rather for the people of Ferndale," Covey said in a press release Friday.

The filing deadline for November's mayoral race is 4 p.m. Aug. 13.
