Craig Covey Considers Another Bid for Ferndale Mayor Job
He formerly was elected to the position in 2007 and 2009.
Former Ferndale Mayor Craig Covey said Tuesday he is considering another bid for the office this fall.
Covey, who was elected mayor in 2007 and 2009, said he has been collecting petition signatures for the past couple weeks for a possible run and will make his final decision in the next week or so.
The Ferndale resident, who served on the City Council from 1999 until 2008, has remained active in Oakland County politics since he left the position of mayor.
- He won a seat representing the former 25th District on the Oakland County Commission previously filled by current Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter in 2010.
- Oakland County Commissioner Helaine Zack of Huntington Woods defeated Covey in 2012 to represent the new 18th District following redistricting.
- Covey was appointed to serve as special assistant to Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash earlier this year.
Sherry Wells and incumbent Dave Coulter already have filed, Brown said.
