I have to say this is one of the better blog posts I've ever seen on the Michigan Patch sites.
With regard to Jim's comments, I do agree that society tends to rapidly vilify people on the spot for mistakes/off-the-cuff utterances/etc. without first considering motivation or true intention. It's just too easy with the internet to jump to all sorts of conclusions.
But Katy, you are right--people who don't think nasty thoughts like that in the first place would never say them in haste, either. God, I would never wish even my worst enemies something like getting "AIDS up the butt." And I certainly wouldn't do so as a professional representative of a business. How utterly awful. And how utterly justified to never want to patronize the place!
I wonder, though, what other people associated with the bar thought about the Twitter comment. They're likely embarrassed at best, pissed off at worst. So maybe not every egg in the basket is rotten. Regardless, this blog post gave me lots to think about. And isn't that the point?
