Christmas Lights, Camera, Action: Enjoy Songs from Hollywood's Holiday Classics

Each day leading up to Christmas Day, Patch will offer holiday-themed music playlists.

Do you hear what I hear?  Christmas carolers are making their way to local neighborhoods and A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life are starting to make the rounds on repeat on TV networks. To get in on the holiday spirit, Patch is creating playlists of Christmas music each day to help spread the cheer. So here's the deal: Each day, from today through Christmas, we'll feature a uniquely different, themed Christmas music playlist. Today's theme is Hollywood Christmas. We've hand-picked songs from some of the Christmas movie greats—with a few obscure additions. Ferndale Library Staff Recommends: Tracy's Fave Holiday Films

Need something new to screen for your own personal marathon of holiday DVDs?

Tracy Wilson is a recent graduate of Wayne State University's School of Library and Information Science. Tracy helps out as a Substitute Librarian at the Ferndale Public Library from time to time, and we're always happy to have her.  Like cookies, office parties and jingles blaring through mall-speakers soundtracking mad-dash-shoppers - the "Christmas Movie" is a tradition-onto-itself, often employed to blow off some steam with a bit of hysterical laughter, mushy romance or poignant drama. These are some good titles. I'm especially a huge fan of A Christmas Story, Love Actually, and Scrooged. There's also something to be said for watching all the different versions of A Christmas Carol (the musical with Albert Finney is weird as can be, but good, for example.)
