Looking for something to do this weekend in Ferndale? Here are a few things going on around town: Howe's Bayou will host its annual Mardi Gras party starting Friday, Feb. 8. The event features live music, free beads and King Cakes, prizes and more. Since the event is held just following the Ferndale Blues and Music festival, Howe's Bayou will leave its blue piggy bank out for anyone who wants to make a donation to benefit Ferndale Youth Assistance and the Michigan AIDS Coalition. Live music schedule: Rock the Runway + Battle of the Bands will be held at Ferndale High School on Saturday, Feb. 9. The 19th annual Anti-Freeze Blues Festival will be held Friday and Saturday at the Magic Bag. Doors open at 7 p.m. both days; tickets $25 on Friday, $20 on Saturday. Find full details here. Live performances from local artists Electric Corpse and The Philter will begin around 7 p.m. Friday at the Ferndale Public Library, as part of the library's First Stop Friday program. Donald Kilpatrick's first solo exhibition will be presented at The Butcher's Daughter from Saturday, Nov. 17 through Dec. 22. An opening reception will be held on Nov. 17 from 6-9 p.m. According to the gallery's web site, Kilpatrick is widely known for his work in illustration and letterpress. His first solo exhibition "delves deeper into personal thematic content, conceptual ideology, and the sculptural considerations of printmaking," the web site states. Find more information here.
