Did Someone Say Free S'Mores?

Yep - free s'mores offered at Ferndale's Local Kitchen and Bar at midnight Thursday through Saturday nights.

When the clock strikes midnight, plan to be at Local Kitchen and Bar if you're in the mood for a late-night snack. The new restaurant, which opened in August in the former Via Nove location at 344 W. Nine Mile Road, is offering free s'mores at midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in front of their wood-burning fireplace. You can expect more than the traditional marshmallow, graham crackers and chocolate combo. Local mixes it up a bit with sides like candy, fruit and more, said general manager Kim Drouillard. Local is also planning to roll out a new lunch menu next week. It's S'mores Day! Celebrate With Warm Toasted Marshmallow S'mores Bars

In honor of this food holiday, try this Betty Crocker recipe for warm toasted marshmallow S'mores bars.

Despite being three months into summer, I have yet to indulge in my favorite summer time treat - S'mores. So, when I learned Aug. 10 was S'mores Day I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to make this S'mores recipe I've been eying on Pinterest. The great thing about this recipe? You can make a single batch and feed up to 24 people, depending on how you cut the bars. To make this recipe, which originates from a Betty Crocker recipe, you'll need the following: To start, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl mix together the crumbs and the cookie mix. Add the melted butter and mix until a soft dough forms. Pour the dough into an ungreased 13-by-9 inch pan. Spread, evenly, along the bottom of the pan. Bake for 18-20 minutes…
