We're on a quest to rate the best of the best in Ferndale. This week, we asked Patch readers to vote for the best place in Ferndale for a Memorial Day picnic. Geary Park in Ferndale came out on top with 41 percent of votes, with a total of 12 people voting. Donald Red Geary Park is a neighborhood park with a baseball diamond, one softball diamond, two designated playgrounds, an inline skating rink, two small fields for soccer and a pavillion for gatherings. In the northwest corner of the park itself is the Heroes Garden, a small plot of young growth dedicated to the victims of 9/11, as well as the veterans of America's wars. We're on a quest to rate the best of the best in Ferndale. This week, we asked Patch readers to vote for the best florist in Ferndale. Blumz by JR Designs in Ferndale came out on top with 79 percent of votes, and Nature Nook Florist came in second with 17 percent of votes. Here's what some Patch readers had to say about their favorite Ferndale florist: Blumz is owned by Jerome Raska and Robbin Yelverton, both educators in the floral industry who travel around the country teaching floral design. It's a tough call. I voted for the Main Art Theatre out of love and respect, but Emagine is really amazing as well. Completely different venues that show different films and offer different things. I'm glad they are both so close, and between them I rarely need to go elsewhere for cinema (or bowling now).   more ›
