The 2012 Garden Fresh Gourmet Hilton Fall Festival is back for a third year on Saturday promising a full day of fall traditions and affordable family fun. The event is presented by the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce and Ferndale Recreation. [See photos from last year's Hilton Fall Festival here.] The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. The festival will be located on Hilton Road between Sylvan and Mapledale in Ferndale. Hilton Road will close from Woodward Heights to Drayton at 4 p.m. Friday to allow time for set up. Hilton will close from Mapledale to Drayton at 6 a.m. Saturday and reopen by 8 p.m. Admission is free. All-inclusive wristbands are available for $5 per child for kids ages 3 to 15, and guests…

Labor Day weekend is here and we've compiled a list of things you may want to know whether you're sticking around or leaving town. Forecast compiled from National Weather Service. All Ferndale city offices will be closed on Labor Day. The Ferndale Public Library will also be closed Monday. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be removing certain lane restrictions from many of its road projects to help motorists have an easier travel experience this Labor Day weekend. Beginning at 3 p.m. Friday and continuing through 6 a.m. Tuesday, 115 of the state's 159 construction projects will have their lane restrictions removed, making it easier for the 1.2 million motorists the AAA expects to hit the road this holiday weekend. The 18th Annual Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise rolls out Aug. 16-18 featuring classic cars, live music, family-friendly activities and more. The Woodward Dream Cruise began in 1995 by Ferndale resident Nelson House and a dedicated group of volunteers. Since then, the cruise has grown to a 16-mile radius, includes nine communities along Woodward Avenue and has become known as the largest car cruiser event in the world. Woodward Avenue Brewers is hosting its first food truck event today. Emily Husband, manager at the Emory, said the Ferndale Truck Stop was organized to offer a food truck rally that includes a beer tent. Two more events are planned outside the WAB on Aug. 4 and Oct. 6. "It's going to be a fun day," Husband said. "Come out for lunch, dinner, snacks - we'll be there all day." It's almost time to "Clean the Ferndale Up!" More than 70 people are signed up to participate tomorrow in Clean the Ferndale Up - a community clean-up event that will bring volunteers together to clean, repair and improve public spaces or other areas that have been neglected, vandalized or misused within Ferndale. The event, which is initiated by the Ferndale Community Foundation, will take place from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. If you haven't signed up yet, registration ends at noon Friday. Sign up here. Students from Ferndale High School will put on their spring musical, Grease, starting this weekend. The play runs March 17-18 and March 23-25 at the FHS auditorium. Ferndale High School musical producer Judy Donlin said the students have been having a great time preparing for the show. "Grease offers a chance for the high school kids of 2012 to live a little bit like the high school kids of 1959," she said. "And they are having a blast. They're going to make it fun for the audience, too."
