Haven Helps Ferndalians Confront Domestic Violence
Tracy Thomas, Haven's director of fund development, talks about how the organization works for the Ferndale community.
It's an ugly term, domestic violence. In a lot of families, it can be a well-kept secret. But Haven is doing its part to help bring an end to this issue — in Ferndale and throughout Oakland County. Haven is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides solutions and programs to promote violence-free homes and communities. Though the nearest Haven treatment center is in Royal Oak, its services don't stop there. The group is equally prevalent in Ferndale. "Getting people to know about the depths of programs we offer is one of our biggest hurdles," said Tracy Thomas, Haven's director of fund development. Deaths of little children, killed by their mothers is egregious, yet the taxpayer funded, domestic violence industry disingenuously tries to make us believe that women don't abuse men too.
