The following highlights are from Ferndale Police Department reports between Jan. 19-Jan. 22. A resident on the 300 block of Lewiston reported that someone kicked in her garage door and took an unknown amount of tools. The resident reported to police that the theft took place between 8 a.m. Jan. 21 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 22. Police found that the side door—which had been deadbolted shut—was kicked in and there was heavy damage to the door jamb. The resident stated the tools belong to her son who is in the Navy and she was unable to list what items were stolen. There are no witnesses or suspects, police said. The following items are from Ferndale Police Department reports from the week of Oct. 21. A woman and her two dogs were attacked by two large dogs around 6:67 p.m. Oct. 23, according to a police report. Police arrived on the scene to find a woman lying on a front yard bleeding from her left ankle and right hand. She explained that she was walking her two small-breed dogs on leashes westbound on Pearson when two large dogs attacked her and her dogs, the report states. The woman was knocked to the ground and bitten on her left ankle and right hand. Her dogs bit the attacking dogs, which were described as a white pit bull and a brindle boxer. The following highlights are from Ferndale Police Department reports from the week of Oct. 14. A thief broke into a home and stole a computer and other items while the resident was there on the 2300 block of Shevlin between 5-6 a.m. Oct. 17, according to a report. The burglar entered through an unlocked bedroom and rummaged through the home and stole several items, including a Mac laptop, digital camera, wallet and drill, the report stated. The theft reportedly took place while the resident was home asleep in a bedroom. According to the report, the suspect took a lawn chair from a neighboring house and stood on it to get into the window. Ferndale needs to buckel down and become more aggressive. The city should ban pit bulls, limit the number of charter schools, and set curfews during the summer months and holiday season. Many of the crimes that are committed are not residents from Ferndale. I just hate to see this great city fall because of a number of bad apples.   more ›
