The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform Thursday, April 4, at the Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, and Patch is giving you the chance to win free tickets. The DSO will perform Mozart’s “Jupiter” as part of its Neighborhood Concert Series. Bach’s Ricercare No. 2 and Britten’s Violin Concerto No. 1 also will be performed. Take your copy of Slaughterhouse-Five to any of the following locations: Chazzano, Java Hutt, Pinwheel Bakery, Affirmations, or Easy Like Sundae, then order your treat of choice, and let the cashier know you’re there to read your book. Celebrate 10 years of fighting cardiovascular disease by joining the American Heart Association and Beaumont Health System during the Go Red For Women Casting Call on Friday, Feb. 1 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Local women are encouraged to share their personal story on-camera for a chance to become a national spokesperson and make ending their number one killer a reality. This free event is hosted by Beaumont Hospital’s Ministrelli Women’s Heart Center, located at 3601 W. 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak. Ferndale Patch's Treat Dreams ice cream flavor has been made and is ready for you to try! Ferndale Community Crunch/Ferndale Normal - a flavor including mixed nuts and coconut with caramel and a little Valentine Vodka - was suggested by resident Bridget Deegan-Krause in our recent ice cream flavor contest, and readers voted it as the number one idea. The new flavor is now available for sale at Treat Dreams until Dec. 30. Let us know what you think of it! Patch partnered with Treat Dreams over the past month to host a flavor contest, giving our readers the chance to help decide what Patch's ice cream flavor should be at the Ferndale ice cream shop. To start, you shared lots of creative ideas on what you thought would make a great "Patch-y" flavor. We handed your ideas over to Treat Dreams owner Scott Maloney and he chose his top five - which wasn't an easy task, he said, with so many great ideas.
