Ferndale Library Kicks Off New Year with Local Music Showcase and More

Plus: Zombie-Lit, art in the library, board games and more.

Happy New Year... It's been a busy year at the Ferndale Library and, as always, we thank the community for their enthusiastic support of various programming and utilization of our multifaceted resources/materials/services. Onward to 2013!  First, a few quick notes Thanks, but no thanks... We're in need of some turnover in our Used Book store and hence will not be receiving Book Donations until further notice. Throughout 2012 we received a generous amount of donations from patrons; so steadily was the pace of proffered materials that our diligent and dedicated volunteers were soon out of space to store all the charitable acquisitions. Stay tuned to our main site or inquire at the Circulation Desk for updates on when we plan to renew …

Check It Out! - An Arts Exhibition, Hobbit Party and A Big List of Thanks from the Ferndale Library

We've had a busy year at the library and we're proud to share some of its highlights as well as our gratitude for the community's continued support.

Thanksgiving at the Ferndale Public Library.. Blue is true and green means envy, red is the passion and yellow yields - our emotions are inescapably vibrant and require a certain chromatic, or kaleidoscopic communication. The Ferndale Library's Arts & Exhibitions Committee kicks off December with an exploration of color's compelling powers through the history of painted canvas.  "Painting is something that takes place among the colors," said famous 19th century German poet Rainer Maria Rilke. "Their intercourse: this is the whole of painting." Wendy Evans, who teaches Art History at the College for Creative Studies, Wayne State and the D.I.A., will use images from the museum's art collection throughout history to illustrate the impact of …
