Patterson Will Return to Work at Oakland County Office Tuesday

'This is where I belong,' said the county executive, who continues to recover from injuries he received in an August car crash.

Almost 12 weeks after being seriously injured in a car crash, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will return to work at his Waterford office this week. Patterson is scheduled to return to the office Tuesday. He will conduct a meeting with his deputy county executives and directors, then address the media Tuesday afternoon, according to his communications officer, Bill Mullan. “As I enter the next phase of my physical rehabilitation, I will resume my daily duties at the Executive Office Building,” Patterson said in a statement. “This is where I belong.”  Patterson was injured Aug. 10 when the Chrysler 300 he had been riding in was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Opdyke and Walton roads in Auburn Hills.  He …

Patterson Files for Re-Election: What Can He Do for Ferndale?

The five-term Oakland County executive and founder of The Brooksie Way is seeking another four years.

In an effort to continue what he calls a "legacy of leadership" in all of Oakland County, L. Brooks Patterson filed for re-election as Oakland County executive last week Thursday at the county clerk's office. Patterson, a 73-year-old Republican, is seeking his sixth term. Huntington Woods resident and business executive Kevin Howley has filed as a Democrat to run against Patterson in the November election. "My administration has a legacy of leadership that is unmatched," Patterson said in a statement Thursday. "Our economic diversification initiatives and budgetary innovations were in place long before others began to see the necessity of adopting similar programs. Ferndale Ad Exec, Garden Fresh COO Among 'Elite 40 Under 40'

Ferndale resident Rick Van House, president of Know Advertising in Royal Oak, and John Latella of Garden Fresh Salsa Gourmet in Ferndale, are among 40 individuals honored in Oakland County.

Ferndale resident Rick Van House, president and founder of Know Advertising in Royal Oak, and Garden Fresh Gourmet COO John Latella were named part of L. Brooks Patterson's "Elite 40 Under 40" list at last week's State of the County Address. The Elite 40 represents the Oakland County executive's vision for the county. Those named on the list are “individuals who are excelling in their fields and are working to improve the quality of life in their communities by giving back,” Patterson said. More than 400 nominations were received representing all areas of the county.
