Students Charged in Fight Outside Ferndale Alternative High School

There were five students arrested after incident, including three 18-year-old males and two 17-year-old males. An 18-year-old female was also arrested after the fight for behavior unrelated to the incident.

Five students who were arrested on Wednesday after a fight outside Ferndale's Digital Learning Center were arraigned on Thursday. The fight occured around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday near the Gardendale Street entrance of the school, Ferndale Police Chief Tim Collins said Thursday. It started with two students and three more joined in. Collins said about 20 students were surrounding the fight when officers arrived. A Taser was used on one of the students after a school resource officer was pushed to the ground as the two students tried to get at each other, Collins said. Parole Absconder Charged in Ferndale Attempted Home Invasion

The suspect was arraigned Tuesday in 43rd District Court.

The suspect in Friday's attempted home invasion in Ferndale was arraigned on Tuesday in 43rd District Court. Jeffrey Paul Reiher, a 32-year-old parole absconder, was charged with first-degree attempted home invasion - a five-year felony. Magistrate Patrick Brennan arraigned Reiher and set bond at $50,000 cash/surety, according to a press release from police. The suspect had been shot at by the homeowner during the attempted home invasion, which took place on Edgewood Place on Friday. The homeowner had discovered that his home was being attacked by an unknown person around 10:45 a.m. Friday and fired his handgun at the suspect, police said. Ferndale Home Invasion Suspect in Custody

The suspect in an attempted home invasion last week on Edgewood Place will be arraigned Tuesday, police said.

Police have arrested the suspect in a recent attempted home invasion on Edgewood Place, said Ferndale Police Chief Tim Collins. Collins told council members at their regular meeting Monday night that the suspect will be arraigned on Tuesday. "That individual has been apprehended by us and is in custody," Collins said. The suspect had been shot at by the homeowner during the attempted home invasion, which took place on Friday. The homeowner had discovered that his home was being attacked by an unknown person around 10:45 a.m. Friday and fired his handgun at the suspect, according to a press release from Ferndale Police Lt.
