All alumni and community members are invited to the expanded Ferndale High Alumni Games that will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
The Ferndale Baseball Boosters invite all alumni and community members to help create "a huge tradition" during the fourth annual Ferndale High Alumni Games on Saturday, May 11. The event will feature boys baseball, girls softball and co-ed games; a tribute to longtime Ferndale coach Annis Joseph; Dodge vehicle test drives to benefit Ferndale sports; and barbecue and other concessions. "We're hoping this starts a huge tradition for our city and our schools," Ferndale Baseball Boosters secretary Barb Marohn-Landry said of the expanded event, which so far will include graduates from 1971 through 2012. The following information was submitted by Ferndale Recreation. The Ferndale Recreation Department would like to honor Mike Pozolo as the Volunteer Basketball Coach of the season. He has demonstrated great commitment, enthusiasm, and accomplishments towards our youth Little Eagles basketball program. Coach Pozolo treats players fairly, provides a safe and fun learning environment that not only leads by example but demonstrates fair play and sportsmanship. Mike has volunteered to coach for the Ferndale Recreation Department for 5 years. When asked why he volunteers, Coach Pozolo says: “I started coaching as a way to get my two boys active in sports. The golf show will be at Suburban Collection Showplace March 1-3.
A little bit of snow won't stop golfers from kicking off the Michigan golf season this weekend. The Michigan Golf Show will be held at Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi, from Friday through Sunday. Hours are Friday 2-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults. Children 12 and younger get in free. Parking is $5. The show will have more than 400 exhibitors, which will include retail, resort and travel information, and deals on Michigan golf courses. Hands-on activities include a closest to the pin contest, 100 feet of hitting nets, and long drive contests. This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the largest consumer golf show in the nation. Ferndale Baseball Boosters currently seeking members, volunteers.
A new non-profit organization has formed to help support Ferndale baseball programs. The goal of the Ferndale Baseball Boosters is to provide ongoing support to the Ferndale Public Schools baseball programs, including the middle school teams and high school teams, according to group vice president Jim Michalak. People are needed to join the Boosters and volunteer opportunities are also available, Michalak said in an announcement of the new organization. Because the sport is not pay-to-play, the Boosters will work to help the teams with needs such as equipment, uniforms, hats and more. The group is working on improving the field, dugouts and concessions area, and has a goal to get a scoreboard for the varsity field. The Ferndale Baseball …

Tigers fans can meet Justin Verlander, Miguel Cabrera and other players at events Thursday and Friday throughout Southeast Michigan.
It's definitely not baseball weather out there, but Tigers fans still can see some of their favorite players Thursday and Friday throughout Metro Detroit as part of the Detroit Tigers Winter Caravan. Garden Fresh Gourmet in Ferndale was one of the caravan's stops last January, when Justin Verlander and other other Tigers stopped by to taste-test some fresh salsa and participate in an employee rally [photos here].
