Its north border is the I-696 service drive; to the south isMore Mapledale Street; east and west borders are the backyards of houses along Inman and Grayson streets. The park has an inline skating rink, two small basketball courts, one large (the Robert J. Waldick Memorial Soccer Field) and two small soccer fields, one baseball diamond, one softball diamond and a tot play area. There are also picnic areas with ample tree shade. Dogs must be leashed.

Geary Park is in the northwest end of Ferndale, between Pinecrest Drive and Central Street, and Earle Boulevard and West Lewiston Avenue. In the northwest corner of the park itself is the Heroes Garden, a small plot of young growth dedicated to the victims of 9/11, as well as the veterans of America's wars. Dogs must be leashed.

The Jefferson Center is part of the Ferndale Public Schools alternative education program. It is located in Oak Park,More on the west side of Republic Street, between Leroy and Saratoga streets. The Jefferson Center services grades 9 through 12. Students can participate in student council as well as go out for basketball.

There are approximately 1,000 students enrolled in the various alternative and adult education programs in the Ferndale school district.
