Center for Advanced Studies and The Arts (CASA) is a six-district consortium, pulling students from Berkley, Clawson,More Ferndale, Lamphere, Madison and Oak Park High Schools. The students from these districts attend two 55-minute afternoon courses designed to engage students in higher levels of thinking. Advanced placement courses include two world languages, philosphy, interpretive literature and music history, among others. Fine arts courses are also available in dance, art and music. The Butcher's Daughter contemporary art gallery opened in 2009 and is focused on the representation and sale ofMore emerging and mid-career artist's work. The gallery creates innovative, cultural context for art through bi-monthly exhibitions, public events and personalized services for every level of collector. The owner (daughter, grand daughter and sister of a butcher), Monica Bowman, holds a master's degree in museum studies from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and a specialization in contemporary art from Sotheby's Institute of Art in New York. Bowman teaches at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, is a native Michigander and resides with her husband in Ferndale.
