Western Market is a neighborhood store with the feel of a farmers market. The exterior of the market is lined with plants, flowers and seasonal produce. Inside,Western Market offers more fresh produce, deli items, and butchered meats (including natural and organic beef and pork) daily. Western Market also has fresh baked goods and prepared foods.
Great selection for such a small store. Produce is fantastic, and the selection of higher-ends herbs/grains will surprise you.
Only complaint is that, on the two occasions I have needed to ask a specific question about wine, no one at the store could answer me. In the second case, the employee didn't even know if the store had Kosher wine (during Passover!).
Lovely selection of products - fruits and veggies always look very fresh...However, on more than one occasion I've seen the pump pressure sprayer sitting on the ground beneath the veggies...I would like to think it's just water but I know it's not...really puts me off...The staff are GREAT throughout the store, but I do wish that I didn't have to check out with the woman that is obviously well invested in the business (family member) always a greedy attitude...Anyways overall a nice a place :)
Western Market is great. They have a lot of great items not available elsewhere in Ferndale. Not only do I enjoy shopping there but they are very engaged in the community and have been extremely generous in their support of area non-profits.
My family enjoys the convenience and the great selection of fruits, vegetables and prepared foods. Lots of organic and Michigan products are available and their selection of beers and wines is getting better all the time.
This family run grocery store is very involved in the community which is a plus for us.
LOVE Western Market! I no longer dread going to the grocery store. Great produce selection that's fresh and well priced! Amazing prepared foods section, fantastic beer and wine selection, quality meats and cheeses and good prices....and the friendliest staff around!
