All I can say is the woman that work there are RUDE RUDE RUDE and need to take a class on how to treat shoppers ask them for the person in charge name and they told me al and said he does not have a last name all i wanted was the bottle return which is very out dated to be fixed and I waited for 20 min and then ask for them just to give me the 1.40 and they said no just wait , I will not shop there they really dont even get the one star

Second for the bag harrassment. I live in the neighborhood so often walk or bike there. A courier bag (12"by12" square) was on my back and they asked me to check it. In a friendly way, but still, it's like - what could I possibly get in a man-purse already stuffed with LPs? And the 'system' they use to check bags does not make you feel like your stuff is secure.

An extra star because they have cleaned up from a few years ago and seem to be trying a *little* harder - with both appearance and attitude. But in general it isn't a friendly place. And at first blush it looks like a nice new store, but walk around for a while and you'll count up all sorts of odd and creepily out-of-place things. Plus the parking lot is a deathtrap for walkers (not a concern for most).

Ferndale caters to the glitz or the grit with no in-between, and this is definitely for the grit.

This place reminds me of the University Food Mkt in the WSU area...same high prices, food that is subpar, etc. The only thing that is different is that the employees at University Market were definitely friendly. This lace is also rude to cyclists that carry backpacks for food. This idea that I have to check my backpack (which is closed and on my back) while there are women (sorry ladies) with large purses that could steal them blind, are allowed to walk through the store.

I've gone to Western Market, Krogers in Birmingham, the University Food Market when I lived in the WSU area, and NO ONE every approached me about checking my backpack. So Ferndale Foods can "kiss off" because I will never patronage the place withthe owner and employees "ghetto food store" mentality.
