There's nothing like hot soup on a cold winter day, and on Thursday you can take your pick among the best soups in town all while benefiting local charities.
Several local businesses are participating in the Winter Warm Up from 6-10 p.m. March 8 at Shriners Silver Garden Events Center in Southfield.
This soup contest event, sponsored by , and Shriners Silver Gardens, will feature taste-testing of 10 signature soups by local restaurants and caterers. A judges award and people's choice award will be given out to the soups that get the most votes.
Tickets cost $25 and all proceeds benefit the Ferndale Rotary and the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
Ferndale Rotary board member Carol Jackson, who organized the Winter Warm Up, said the event is open to all and will be a fun way for people to spend a winter evening. In addition to the soup choices, bread, salad and desserts will also be provided and guests get two drink tickets with the entry price.
