Update: Power Out for 2,559 DTE Customers in Ferndale

Update 7 a.m.: By 7 a.m. Thursday, a DTE outage map showed 2,559 customers in Ferndale without power. Stay tuned to Ferndale Patch for more information as it becomes available.

12 a.m.: The number of DTE customers in Ferndale without power late Wednesday evening was up to 1,439 by midnight, with no estimated restoration time yet available, according to a DTE power outage map.

10:30 p.m.: 1,213 DTE customers in Ferndale were without power as of 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the outage map.

7:42 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm whipped through Ferndale on Wednesday evening, battering the area with powerful winds and hail and knocking out power to more than 1,100 customers.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning in effect until 9:30 p.m. for southern Oakland County, as well as a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10:00 p.m. for the area.

DTE's outage map showed 1,137 customers were without power as of 7:30 p.m. in Ferndale. An estimated restoration time was not yet available.
