Chevez Farris Wins Semifinal to Earn Spot in State Wrestling Final
Victory over Dempsey Friday puts Farris right where he wants to be: wrestling for a state title.
Chevez Farris beat Brett Dempsey of Mattawan 10-6 by decision Friday night in the semifinal match, earning a chance to wrestle for the state title Saturday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Farris won his quarterfinals match earlier Friday in a 5-3 decision over Lapeer West junior C.J. Melton.
The individual wrestling state finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills with hundreds of wrestlers from around the state hitting the mat.

"It's just a continuation of what he did at and ," Eagles coach Charlie Morgan said.
Farris won district and regional titles on his way to The Palace. On Thursday, the senior scored two takedowns in the first round and increased his lead to 11-1 by the end of the second.
Morgan said Farris has high expectations for his third and final trip to The Palace.
