Whiz Kid: Tyler Beltz Aspires to be Journalist

• School: Sophomore at
• Accomplishments: Tyler hosts his own online show that broadcasts live called the Young Detroit Show. He has interviewed singers such as Cody Simpson, Jessica Jarrell and Mike Posner. Tyler aspires to become a news reporter and a radio DJ and has worked to pursue his dream, networking with journalists and getting involved in local radio stations.
  He participates in the United Student Assembly – Ferndale High School's student council – and is part of the program that mentors the incoming freshman class. He and Ferndale Youth Assistance and he's also a "Mojo In The Morning misfit" – a person who calls in frequently to voice his opinion on the topics they talk about on-air.
  According to his mom, Cheri Bean, Tyler believes you should "never give up on something you dream."
  "Tyler also told me that the key is to do what you love no matter what other people might think of you," she said. "Work hard and if you stick to your dream you will go far."
• Key to awesomeness: Tyler said he believes that focus, dedication, connections, family and friends are his keys to his success.
  "In the world today, I feel that it's all about who you are connected with and the relationships you have with people that can very well help you a ton," he said. "The people you brand yourself with and talk to frequently can help you out a lot."
  He appreciates the support of his family and friends. "My family has been there so much for me and they are willing to offer advice and help me out when needed," he said. "Without my friends or family I might not have as much passion as I do now to fulfill my dream."
