School's In: Ferndale Public Schools Will Start Wednesday Bright and Early

Despite a one-day delay due to storm damage, Ferndale Public Schools announced school will be in session Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The Ferndale Public Schools district announced that the school year will begin Wednesday, Sept. 7 .

Ferndale schools announced Monday that it would delay the start of school by one day due to the massive amount of damage incurred during a . The storm resulted in about 7,000 of Ferndale's DTE Energy customers without power over the weekend. That number has been steadily dropping and as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the DTE Energy outage map, about 2,200 were still without power.

DTE Energy's Vice President of Distribution Vincent Dow said that the company will be working to restore the majority of the remaining customers without power Tuesday evening.

All of the schools, including CASA, will be open and all buses will be running, the district said in a statement.
