The Ferndale Public Library Board of Directors is seeking to fill four seats. Over the past two years, a number of directors have resigned their positions on the board in order to pursue other opportunities, leaving two partial terms to be filled. Frank Castronova and Adrienne Fazzolara Gilmore are running for these two terms which expire Jan. 1, 2018. Vying for the two full-term seats, which expire Jan. 1, 2020, are incumbents Judeen Bartos and Monique Herzig.

Ferndale voters will also be deciding whether or not to adopt an ordinance which would decriminalize the use, possession or transfer of less than 1 ounce of marijuana on private property by persons 21 years (old) or older. Andrew Cissell, a Ferndale resident, petitioned City Council to adopt the ordinance. City Council, at their Aug. 12, 2013, meeting failed to take action to do so. In accordance with the city’s charter, the question now goes before the city’s qualified electors.
