Ferndale Elementary School Seeks Guest Readers

Annual 'Guest Reader Day' will be held at Roosevelt Primary School on March 15.

Roosevelt Primary School in Ferndale is seeking community members to read to students at the school's annual Guest Reader Day on March 15.

Roosevelt hosts Guest Reader Day each year as part of its celebration of Reading Month in March.

"Not only does it put a smile on our students' faces, but also on those who spend a little time reading to the students," Roosevelt Principal Dina Rocheleau wrote in a letter to community members.

Dear Ferndale Community Member,

Each year students, teachers and schools around the United States participate in Dr. Seuss’s birthday and celebrating March as ‘Reading Month’. Roosevelt has prepared for a month of reading focused activities.

On Friday, March 15 we are once again holding our annual ‘Guest Reader Day’ where we invite community members and our Ferndale neighbors to come be a part of Roosevelt’s School Family by reading to a class. We would be honored to have you as our guest. It will take about 20 to 30 minutes to read to a class. You can volunteer to read to one class or if you have a little more time two or three classes. Whatever works in your busy day!

We certainly hope that you can take the time to make our ‘Guest Reader Day’ on March 15, 2013 a success! Please contact the school no later than March 8, 2013 if you are able to participate in this worthwhile event so that we can schedule accordingly. You may either call 248-586-8801 or email drocheleau@ferndaleschools.org and mgearing@ferndaleschools.org. We are flexible and will work around your busy schedule. Thank you for your efforts in supporting Roosevelt’s School Family!

Wishing you well,

Dina Rocheleau
Proud Principal
