Events Whet Ferndale Students' Appetite for 'Hunger Games'

Ferndale Middle School and library partner to offer talks and events focused around the popular young adult book series ahead of movie release. A trivia contest and party are next.

There are few topics that get tweens talking these days more than the best-selling book series The Hunger Games.

That's why and the have joined forces to offer a variety of discussions and events based around the young adult book series authored by Suzanne Collins.

A tween book discussion about the series took place Thursday, where about 15 students engaged in conversation led by librarian Darlene Hellenberg.

Participants will be entered into a drawing to be a part of a field trip to see The Hunger Games feature film, which will be released March 23.

Ferndale Library circulation specialist Kelly Bennett said she thinks the school's support of the program, plus the drawing, have added to its success.

"I think that spurred some more people to come out," Bennett said.

The next events are a and a . Registration is required for the trivia contest but is not required for the party.
