By the Numbers: Ferndale Voter Turnout in 2008 Primary

City Clerk Cherilynn Tallman says Ferndale had a 19 percent voter turnout in the 2008 primary. She said a similar turnout is expected for Tuesday's election, which includes a vote on the proposed school bond.

Michigan's presidential primary is Tuesday and residents will have a chance to vote on Republican presidential candidates and the .

Ferndale City Clerk Cherilynn Tallman said she expects a similar turnout to the 2008 presidential primary, when 3,281 residents voted.

So far, 486 absentee voter ballots have been issued with 353 already returned.

"It’s looking like we’ll see similar turnout to the 2008 presidential primary," Tallman said.

  • Ferndale had a total voter turnout of 19 percent.
  • A total 3,281 people voted.
  • Absentee voter ballots counted for 325 of the total voters.
  • Among those who voted:
  • 1,393 Republican votes
  • 1,888 Democratic votes
