Public Hearing Set Wednesday on Proposed School Budget Cuts

The forum in Lansing will give residents a chance to sound off on Gov. Snyder's budget plans.

Residents are invited to attend a public hearing on proposed school budget cuts Wednesday in Lansing.

The Appropriations K-12 Subcommittee has called a public hearing for 2 p.m. at the Capitol, Room 352 (House Appropriations Room), according to an email Tuesday from Rep. Ellen Cogen Lipton, D-Huntington Woods, that lamented the last-minute nature of the event.

During the hearing, residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on proposed school budget cuts included in Gov. Rick Snyder’s 2012 budget plan. K-12 schools face a $470 per pupil reduction that would save the state $452.5 million.
