Nov. 8 Election Central

On Nov. 8, Ferndale residents will go to the polls to vote for a mayor, two city council seats, five uncontested library board seats and, if you're in precincts eight and nine, two Hazel Park Board of Education seats, also uncontested.

Nov. 8 is Election Day. So, find your precincts, pick a time and go cast several votes in Ferndale.

Between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., in nine locations across Ferndale, residents will take to the polls to cast a vote for mayor, two votes for city council candidates, five votes for uncontested library board seats and, if you're in precincts eight and nine, two uncontested Hazel Park Board of Education seats.

When: Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

What: All residents will be casting a vote for one mayor, two city council members and five library board trustees. Residents voting in precincts seven and eight -- Edison Community School and the Detroit Curling Club -- will cast votes for two Hazel Park Board of Education seats.

Running for mayor is current Ferndale and newcomer . There are two seats open on Ferndale's City Council and three candidates running -- incumbent , and .

For the Ferndale Library Board of Trustees, Jim O'Donnell and John Sterritt are running for a full six year term, Tiffani Gagne is running for a partial term ending Dec. 31, 2015, and Judeen Bartos and Monique Herzig are running for a partial term ending Dec. 31, 2013. .

In precincts seven and eight, residents will also be casting votes for two Hazel Park Board of Education members, Rose Hammonds and Sherrie Polowski, both are running unopposed.

Campaigning rules:

State law requires those campaigning stay 100 feet away from poling places. This includes talking about the ballot proposal inside the polling places, which is not allowed by State law.
