Governor Appoints Dino's Lounge Owner to Michigan Humanities Council

The council fosters quality cultural programs, bringing together humanities scholars and the public for fundraising and community engagement.

Dean Bach, owner of Dino's Lounge in Ferndale, was recently appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to the Michigan Humanities Council.

The council fosters quality cultural programs, bringing together humanities scholars and the public for fundraising and community engagement.

"It’s an honor to have been appointed by Governor Snyder to this Council," Bach said in a press release. "It’s exciting knowing that I have an opportunity to help contribute my energy to an important part of our state’s culture.”

Bach, who lives in West Bloomfield, is well known for his involvement in the community including working with Ferndale Youth Assistance, the Michigan AIDS Coalition and serving on the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority board of directors.

Bach also serves as director of the Ferndale Film Festival and last year he was honored by the Michigan Restaurant Association with the 2012 National Good Neighbor Award.

One of four gubernatorial appointees, Bach will serve alongside Steve Wilson of Grand Rapids, Brian Brunner of Mt. Pleasant and Jody Lynn Egen of Wyandotte. The board has also elected Paul Chaffee of St. Charles, Sarah Jury of Saginaw, Debra McKeon of Grand Haven, and Kelvin Smyth of Escanaba.

“These outstanding Michiganders bring valuable experiences to the board,” Snyder said in the press release. "I am confident they will effectively serve in these roles."

Appointees will serve three-year terms that expire Dec. 31, 2015.
