Talk About Town: Ferndale Residents Voice Opinions About Parking
City Council approved more pay stations after using data from the new system to study a seven-day period of usage.
This week marks the launch of a new feature, Talk About Town. Each week, Ferndale Patch will pose a question or highlight a current issue in the Ferndale community and ask you to share your thoughts on it. Today's topic is the new parking system.
While parking will be free in downtown Ferndale for two more weeks while the city works to improve the new parking system, some Ferndale residents aren't happy with how the situation has been handled.
Ferndale City Council on Monday night approved the extension of free parking through March 11 and approved the purchase of 12 additional parking pay stations.

Louie Pierce said "Am I the only who wanted the pay stations gone in Ferndale not more?"
Lisa Wright commented "I don't think they are that hard to use. The jacked up price sucked, but people with average intelligence shouldn't have a problem, and we can help out the rest."
Frank Castronova posted, "I'm disappointed the DDA wasn't called to task yesterday by anyone on council. Weren't they heavily involved in this decision? A few people who addressed council mentioned the DDA's lack of interest in directly talking to business owners and patrons about this problematic system."
