UPDATED: Residents Invited to Woodward Avenue Rapid Transit Alternatives Forum

The event will be held Wednesday, April 17, at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale.

The community is invited to participate in a Woodward Avenue rapid transit forum April 17.

The informational event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, according to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.

The open house will focus on how the $2 million Woodward Avenue Rapid Transit Alternatives Analysis will impact Detroit, Ferndale and Pleasant Ridge. It coincides with April 17-19 at St. James focused on the Woodward Complete Streets master plan.

A variety of options such as bus rapid transit and light rail have been considered as part of the Woodward Avenue Rapid Transit Alternatives Analysis, according to Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.

The SEMCOG project seeks to develop a transportation plan along 27 miles of Woodward Avenue from Detroit to Pontiac. The 11 communities involved are Detroit, Highland Park, Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, Huntington Woods, Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills and Pontiac, along with the Michigan Suburbs Alliance and the Woodward Avenue Action Association.
