Ferndale Mayor Recognized for Leadership

Dave Coulter was recently selected to join the NewDEAL, a national network that highlights innovative ideas from state and local elected leaders.

Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter was recently selected as one of 10 leaders from across the country to join the NewDEAL, a national network that highlights innovative ideas from pro-growth state and local elected leaders.

Coulter was recognized for his work to implement the which aims to streamline the process of moving a business project from concept to reality.

Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland and U.S. Senator Mark Begich of Alaska, honorary chairs of the NewDEAL, recognized Coulter for his efforts to make it easier for local businesses to create jobs in Ferndale.

“Senator Begich and I have joined the NewDEAL because we believe we need to look for fresh ideas not just from the top down in Washington, but also from the bottom up, where innovative leaders like Dave Coulter are developing and testing their ideas out on the ground,” O’Malley said.

Begich said leaders like Coulter are "proving that you can be both pro-growth and progressive."

"The NewDEAL is designed to foster these types of ideas and these types of leaders," he said.

Coulter joins State Representative Jim Townsend and Flint Mayor Dayne Walling as the third NewDEAL Leader from Michigan.

"I’m excited to work with my fellow NewDEAL Leaders on progressive ideas that will help to create jobs and grow businesses here in Ferndale and across the country," Coulter said.
