State of the City Address Will Focus on Neighobrhoods, Ferndale Mayor Says

The event is free and open to the public; it will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Local Kitchen & Bar.

Mayor Dave Coulter will focus on improving Ferndale's neighorhoods when he delivers the annual State of the City address Thursday, April 18, at Local Kitchen & Bar.

The 7 p.m. event, presented by the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce, is free and open to members the public, who will have the opportunity to ask questions. Participants are asked to RSVP in advance by e-mailing events@ferndalechamber.com and referencing Ferndale State of the City. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

"Last year's speech focused very much on attracting businesses to Ferndale.  This year the focus is on improving our neighborhoods, which are really the foundation of the city," Coulter said.

"I will discuss why I think keeping our neighborhoods vibrant is so important, and announce two new programs designed to strengthen them," he said. "Neither program will cost much, if anything, but they can have a big impact on revitalizing our neighborhood improvement efforts."

The State of the City will be preceded by a $15 cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m.

"Enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and well crafted cocktails from the Local Kitchen & Bar as we mix and mingle with the City of Ferndale department heads, Mayor Coulter and City Council members," a post on the Chamber of Commerce website says. "You'll have a unique opportunity to get to know the heads of each department in a casual setting."

Participants were asked to RSVP by 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, by e-mailing events@ferndalechamber.com and referencing City Reception.
