Ferndale Declares Snow Emergency on Friday

"Our DPW crews are making an effort to scrape and plow all residential streets before temperatures drop below 20 degrees," said DPW director Loyd Cureton.

As of 8:30 a.m. this morning, Loyd Cureton, Director of the Ferndale Department of Public Works (DPW) has declared a snow emergency.

“Our DPW crews are making an effort to scrape and plow all residential streets before temperatures drop below 20 degrees," Cureton said. "Otherwise the snow and slush will turn to hard packed ice, and salt will be much less effective at those temperatures”.

Once a snow emergency is declared, it remains in effect until city streets are clear curb-to-curb, or until the Director of Public Works cancels it. A special parking permit may be issued by the Department of Public Works for any residential home that does not have a driveway.
