Ferndale City Council Approves Liquor License for Woodward Imperial

Residents and mayor speak out on school bond issue at Monday's meeting.

Ferndale City Council met Monday night, hosting a public hearing for a liquor license and hearing from residents during public comments on a variety of other issues. If you didn't catch the meeting, here's what you missed.

Former Post Bar gets new life as Woodward Imperial

Council held a public hearing for a liquor license at the , a new bar and restaurant located at 22828 Woodward Ave. . One neighboring business owner spoke during the hearing in favor of the approval and Jeff King, the managing partner for the business, described his plan for a unique dining experience including "L.A. street-syle tacos." Council members unanimously approved the license.

School bond on Feb. 28 ballot

 encouraged residents to get informed on the  and register to vote if they are not already registered. "I think this is a really reasonable proposal," he said. "Whatever you decide, make sure you vote on Feb. 28."  Deadline to register to vote on the February ballot is Monday.

Brad Parks, a parent of two children who attend , spoke during public comments encouraging residents to vote yes on the . "Good schools make good neighborhoods," he said, adding that this also translates into property values. "Goodness knows we could all use better property values."

Ferndale Soup fundraisers

 said he encourages residents to check out the Ferndale Soup event every third Sunday of the month. He said he attended the  this month and the group raised more than $300 for charity. "It was a great event, I was really impressed with it," Martin said.

Ferndale music festival begins Friday

Monica Mills, co-chair of the  which begins Friday, encouraged residents to attend the event. "We've had just a wonderful response," Mills said of the festival's several new venues.
