Ferndale Group to Host School Bond Issue Forum on Sunday

Citizens for a Fair Ferndale will host its fourth voter forum at the Ferndale Public Library.

Ferndale School District residents will have the chance to hear arguments for and against the  Sunday afternoon at an issue forum hosted by Citizens for a Fair Ferndale.

A representative of as well as a representative of an opposing viewpoint have been invited to participate in the event at 2 p.m. at the .

. It includes infrastructure updates such as asbestos removal from , heating and cooling systems for buildings and a kitchen area for . Residents will vote on the proposed bond Feb. 28.

Questions will be accepted in writing and a moderator with no personal interest in the topic will moderate the discussion.

Citizens for a Fair Ferndale, which does not take a position on the issue, intends to provide a safe, moderated environment where voters can gather the information they need to make an informed decision on the issue, said Kat Bruner James, chair of the citizens group.

"We feel like it fits with our mission to be able to equally provide citizens with the right information," Bruner James said.

Bridget Deegan-Krause, a member of CFF, has helped organize the event. "It's important that Ferndale has an educated electorate," Deegan-Krause said.

Citizens for a Fair Ferndale’s mission is to foster a community that is dedicated to the fair and equal treatment of all residents and visitors regardless of sexual orientation, race, color, religion, gender, age, height, weight, familial status, national origin, physical or mental disability.

The voter forum on Sunday is the group's fourth voter forum that focuses exclusively on a ballot question.
