Dave Coulter to Run for Mayor in November

Current Ferndale mayor was appointed to the position in January and says he'll seek the seat in the next election.

Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter will run for mayor in November, he announced Tuesday.

by City Council after the former mayor, Craig Covey, ran for and won the 25th District Oakland County commissioner's seat.

“I never dreamed, 20 years after discovering Ferndale, that I’d
have the honor of serving as mayor," Coulter said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. "While much has changed since then, the best things about Ferndale are exactly the same. We make newcomers feel welcome, and make neighbors feel like family. Ferndale is a community in the truest sense of the word."

Prior to being appointed Ferndale mayor, Coulter was the 25th District Oakland County commissioner. Last year, he decided to run for state Senate but lost in the August primary to Vincent Gregory.
