6 Facts About West Nine Mile Road Reconstruction

Find out what you need to know to survive "How the West was One" and remember: All businesses will remain open during the project.

Here are some tips from the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority on the nearly $1.9 million "How the West was One" reconstruction project along West Nine Mile Road.

  1. Construction update briefings will be given at 11 a.m. each Thursday at the Ferndale DDA Office, 149 W. Nine Mile Road. The briefings are open to the public.
  2. Travel from Pinecrest to Livernois will be reduced from five lanes to two between May 13 and November.
  3. All businesses will remain open during the project.
  4. Parking along the impacted portion of West Nine Mile Road will be prohibited during construction. Free public parking will be available at the American Legion Hall. Parking also will be available in business's private lots and on Livernois.
  5. The southside alley between Livernois and Beaufield will be changed to a one-way alley during construction to accomodate deliveries and parking.
  6. Beaufield, Dover and Kenton will be closed to through traffic at Nine Mile Road. Residents should take an alternate route from Albany. Kenton will be changed to two-way from Albany to Nine Mile.
