2. Community invited to citizens group 'Civility Project' kick-off

Citizens for a Fair Ferndale has received funding to sponsor The Civility Project – a community-wide conversation to consider how to best create and promote the city's culture of civility. The kick-off event will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the  and will feature guest facilitator Kent Roberts. The public is invited to participate. 3. Skype chat with author Simone Elkeles on Tuesday

4. New frozen yogurt shop to open soon

at 172 W. Nine Mile Road, is planning to open for business soon and could open this week. The shop will offer 10 flavors of fat-free, soft-serve frozen yogurt and a long list of candy toppings. *Note: The opening was previously scheduled for Thursday, however a new date is still in the works. Stay tuned for more details.

5. Summer Food Program continues

The Ferndale Schools' Summer Food Program began June 18 and continues throughout the summer at various locations. The 2012 in-school food service program will provide every child 18 years and younger with a free, nutritious breakfast and lunch throughout the summer. There are no financial requirements or qualifications for children and their families. .
