Unruly Bar Patrons Hinder Police Probe of Fight Over Spilled Drink

An unidentified woman sustained a severe laceration to her forehead after she was hit by a bottle, which broke on impact.

A spilled drink at a Ferndale bar early Monday morning landed an unidentified woman in a local hospital with severe lacerations to her forehead, police said.

Det. Lt. William Wilson of the Ferndale Police Department said authorities were called to the Bosco Bar, 22930 Woodward Ave., about 1:25 a.m. Monday.

Wilson said the 38-year-old woman was injured after the suspect, a 26-year-old woman who also has not been identified, allegedly spilled a drink on another witness and struck her in the arm with a bottle before hitting the victim in the face with the bottle. The bottle broke, causing the injuries.

Wilson said the bar was crowded and filled with unruly patrons who interfered with officers’ attempts to restore order. Officers from the Royal Oak and Hazel Park police departments were called to assist.

Charges have not yet been filed, but Wilson anticipates decisions will be made by Tuesday.
