Two men were arrested at the in Ferndale on prostitution charges on Tuesday night.
At about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Ferndale Police officer stopped a man who he suspected was up to illegal activity in the motel. The man admitted to the officer that he went to the Motorama Motel at Eight Mile and Woodward in response to an online advertisement he found for transsexual escort services, according to a police report.
An undercover officer called the phone number advertised and arranged for he and another officer to meet a prostitute for services, according to the report. The officers went to the room and met with two individuals, who they arrested for prostitution.
Police said both men arrested also had several warrants on them for their arrest. Officers also reportedly found marijuana in the room.
On Wednesday afternoon, both men were charged with Possession of Marijuana and Prostitution. Magistrate Brennan set bond at $5,000 cash/surety each.
Ferndale Police Lt. William Wilson said police have responded to similar issues at this motel in the past.
"We've had issues there," he said. "It's been quieter lately than it used to be, but it's definitely not your family type of hotel."
Wilson said the man initially stopped claimed he didn't do anything illegal and police had no evidence to prove otherwise. "So he was just sent on his way," Wilson said.
