UPDATE: 2 Teens Charged in Hit-and-Run

Assault with a dangerous weapon charges filed after Monday incident in which a 20-year-old pedestrian suffered minor injuries.

Two teens were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run involving a 20-year-old man, Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson said in a statement.

The victim was walking at about 6:20 p.m. Monday near Martin Road and Chestunt Street when an oncoming 1992 Mercury Cougar driven by Richard Flowers, 18, of Ferndale veered toward him, Wilson said. As the car approached, the passenger, Lance Katulski, 17, of Hazel Park, opened his door into the pedestrian, according to the statement.

"The blow knocked the man down," Wilson said. "Fortunately, he suffered only minor injuries and his eyeglasses were broken."
