Up on the Rooftop: Suspect Arrested After Jumping from Atop Ken's Market

Ferndale Police make arrest after seeing someone climb off roof, then finding hole cut in roof of market.

Someone other than Santa Claus was lurking around on the roof of Thursday morning.

Ferndale Police received a call about 1 a.m. from a resident on the 500 block of Farmdale of a possible breaking and entering. While speaking with the resident, who said he had heard breaking glass and a yard gate opening in the area, an officer heard the sound of someone moving on the roof of Ken's Market, located at 504 Livernois, Ferndale Lt. Detective William Wilson said.

The officer saw a man, wearing dark clothes, climbing down from the roof. He was ordered to stop but the suspect got back on the roof and ran toward the front of the building, jumping off, Wilson said.
