Six Students at Ferndale Alternative School Arrested, Staffer Injured

It happened on Thursday at the Taft Education Center.

Six students at the Digital Learning Center at Taft Education Center were in custody and one staff member suffered an injury from two unrelated fights at the alternative school in Ferndale on Thursday.

The Detroit Free Press reports that two juveniles were arrested and turned over to their parents, with charges pending. One student was charged with resisting and obstructing police and assault and battery.

Three students were charged with resisting and assaulting police, with one of those students also charged with two counts of assault and battery.

The staff member, an administrator, suffered a broken leg while attempting to break up the fight, the report states. A 15-year-old student punched the administrator and stomped his lower leg.
