Police Arrest Man Suspected in Feb. 28 Ferndale Radio Shack Theft

Police said the 21-year-old Detroit resident, who was an employee at the store at the time of the theft, was arrested and arraigned Wednesday.

The man from in Ferndale on Feb. 28 was arrested around 12:20 a.m. today, police said.

According to a statement from Ferndale Police Lt. Bill Wilson, 21-year-old Delen Hardy, of Detroit, was arrested after a tipster phoned Detroit Police that the suspect had been seen in the area of Woodward and Milwaukee in Detroit.

The tipster said he recognized Hardy from seeing his picture on a television news report, police said.

Hardy was arraigned today and bond was set at $10,000.

Police said after the incident last week that the man was working at the store when he stole the merchandise. The store manager said the suspect was at work the previous day and left early, according to police. He had left the sales area of the store and was not seen by other employees for a long period of time.

The man reportedly went into the storage room and stole 20 cell phones valued at more than $11,000, according to police. The theft was recorded on surveillance video.
