Police Arrest Ferndale Armed Robbery Suspects

Two suspects are in custody after a 52-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint outside Stop & Go in Ferndale on Feb. 9, police said.

Ferndale Police said two men are in custody after a man was robbed at gunpoint outside of a local party store on Saturday.

Around 9 p.m. on Feb. 9, police said a 52-year-old man was robbed in the parking lot of the Stop & Go located at 1365 E. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale.

According to a news release from Ferndale Police Det. Lt. William Wilson, the man was approached by the robber (a 40-year-old Detroit resident) who had a gun and demanded money and a cell phone from the victim.

The victim believed the robber was driven by an accomplice driving a red pick-up truck.

A few hours later, Madison Heights had two citizens robbed at gunpoint, and the description of the robber and the getaway vehicle matched those from Ferndale’s robbery.

Madison Heights police spotted the suspect vehicle and the driver fled south onto I-75. Ferndale and Royal Oak Police joined in a pursuit that ended in Detroit when the two suspects bailed out of the pick-up and ran, police said.

Both suspects were apprehended and are now in custody.

Wilson wrote in the release that Ferndale and Madison Heights Police are working together on the investigation and no further details will be available until it is complete and the case has been reviewed by the prosecutor’s office.
