Pleasant Ridge Launches Neighborhood Watch Program

Pleasant Ridge is bringing back its Neighborhood Watch program and residents are invited to get involved.

Pleasant Ridge Police Officer Robert Ried said the program is meeting for the first time in at least 25 years.

The kick-off meeting for the Pleasant Ridge Neighborhood Watch will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center located at 4 Ridge Road.

Residents will have an opportunity to sign up for the emergency notification service, which will allow police to update residents "fast and effectively by phone, text, and email services" when there are incidents in and around the community, according to a press release from the Pleasant Ridge Police Department.

Examples include lost child alerts, updates on power outages, boil water alerts, stranger danger, etc.

The meeting should run about an hour, and will include an overview of the program, the opportunity to sign up for the notifications, a brief presentation on being a witness, and a short question-and-answer session.
